Proposed Dia de los Muertas workshops at Watonwan County Library

Hi Stacy. It sounds like you're looking for a one session workshop proposal. This project could largely happen in one session but, how I'm thinking of it, there would need to be at least one follow-up workshop time offered for any participants who needed another session to take their projects to completion. This second session could be facilitated by an interested librarian or volunteer if need be.

This would be a 2+ hour workshop geared towards young adults...I'm picturing 6-12 participants with 1 or two volunteers assisting (I would be providing one volunteer and myself to facilitate the workshop). Would need to happen mid./late October...(Day of the Dead is Nov. 1).
Just thinking about it and seeing what time frame, # of folks, etc. you're thinking of. And also if this idea might be of interest to your patrons. There are plenty of ways this could be tied into cultural, literary, historic facets. I've got some ideas for this, but there's plenty of chances for library and/or interested young adult input.
If this is too quick, I have other ideas for different workshops...let me know any specifics, parameters, etc.

If this ends up being of interest, I was thinking I could fine-tune this blog to make it more of a proposal that could be looked at by patrons/likely participants/etc. and, 'cause its a blog, responded to, and then altered if there are suggestions or inputs that seem good...

Some examples from Offrendas workshop at Interact Center for the Arts

Workshops for this project were held with 8-10 folks in our studio over two or three 2 hour sessions.
Offrendas are altars created to honor deceased loved ones in celebration of Dia de los Muertas, an annual festival from Mexico.
